The Notice and Focus method is both very helpful and
interesting because it guides an individual through the process of analyzing a
piece. This method shows that you cannot
fully understand something until you look at it as a whole, examining every
detail of it. Once you have identified
all of the details, you then can interpret it.
The best way to interpret a piece of work is to look at it slowly from
top to bottom so you do not miss any feature.
After identifying and interpreting the piece, you finally make a
conclusion of your interpretation. Your
conclusion represents your view and opinion of what the author is trying to
portray to its audience.
Before being introduced to the Notice and Focus
method I looked only at the details that I felt were important or stood out to
me in a work of art instead of looking at it as whole. I also based my interpretations off of the
big features and the authors message instead thinking outside of the box. All in all, this method widens a person
perspective on any piece of work and helps them analyze and really think about
what the author's purpose was of creating it.
