Heaven and Hell
The
details in this artwork remind me of a battle between heaven and hell. In the center is a huge egg that is split
down the middle, inside is a man struggling to force himself out of the
egg. There is a white cloth that is torn
in half which appears to have been covering the egg, perhaps trying to trap the
man and prevent him from escaping. A yellow/orange
light is glowing in the sky and around the egg which gives a since of freedom
and a new beginning. This light reminds
me of the peace and happiness in heaven.
The man kicking his legs as well as the veins popping through his chest
and arms show how desperate he is to escape and enter what he thinks is freedom. However, the clouds and surroundings are very
dark and gloomy which give a sense of hell.
Next to the egg is a skeleton woman and baby. The women is pointing towards the man as if
welcoming him into the dark side and showing her baby that even the good can be
stuck in between heaven and hell.
