Chelsea Perez_Starry Night prompt_draft 1

“The Starry Night” is a very iconic image and very well known. I do not know what interpretations others have made about this artwork and I think this helps me to come up with my own. The main details I focused on in this image after observing all the details were the colors, the time of day and the sky/stars. Blue is the most pronounced color in the image and it can be associated with many emotions. I think that the color blue in this image is to give a peacefulness to the image. When I think of night time, I think of quiet, dark and still and I think the color blue was used to create that. However, when I also think of night, I think of the color black and it is not used much in this image.
It is strange to me that a picture portraying night time is very bright. I know that it is not supposed to be a realistic drawing and I think that black would have given the painting a feeling more ominous and scary than peaceful. The stars in this image are what catch my eye the most because the majority of the image is blue and then there are these big yellow or white spots. The way that the stars are drawn makes me think of it as if I were looking at the sky in the reflection of a lake or pond. I think that the image represents the peacefulness and beauty of night because of the blue color and the sky in the painting.
