Georgie Exinord_Homework #3_Blog #1: Notice and Focus Method

What do you think of this method?
I think the Notice and Focus method is a rational way of interpreting images.  I feel that it ensures impartialness, in the sense that we can equally evaluate each detail and then prioritize; rather than, analyzing the detail that catches our eye and go about our process from there. It is going to take me a few trials to let me get accustomed to this new method and diverge from what I have been doing subliminally all along. It is effective? No. I say no because isn’t analyzing details that catch our eye effective too? The effect from both methods are gaining a perspective on the subject, which was our objective. The subject in class was the Starry Night painting by Van Gogh, and using both methods I did gain a perspective. So to say that the Notice and Focus method is effective is inaccurate to me.
Nonetheless, it did seem as if someone widened my eyelids though. Initially when I did analyze the picture I went to the first thing that triggered my interest, the blue sky. I loved how it looked like it was absorbing light and emitting some of that back to me- a selfish unfair trade, and from there on that is where I began! But when I heard other students sharing their opinions and how they concluded to that opinion (using the Notice and Focus method), I did feel like I was looking through their eyes. A new perspective was proposed! Now, what I once thought was interesting, felt incomparable to my new interest, the town, and that time I did use the method.

  2. I agree with you Georgie,it did widen my eyes to the bigger picture besides just looking mostly into the sky.

  3. I really like the way you kept relating to the main idea of the assignment.I also like the way you stayed on the idea to that focus and notice methods. ]I enjoyed the way you kept the read easy to read without any spelling mistakes. The way you made you point easy to understand and kept proving it. I like your connections to the class assignment.
